Itinerary

Meeting Place

Sept-Îles, Quebec

Raft, inflatable kayak, and explore the world class Magpie—camping in spectacular wilderness.

Day 1:

Get picked up at the airport by your guides. Welcome briefing. Explore Sept-Îles or relax at the lovely seaside hotel—Chateau Arnaud.

Day 2:

The expedition truly begins! Fly to lake Magpie by helicopter—a big highlight. Learn about rafting and whitewater. Setting up camp for the first time, your guides will show you everything you need to know so you can live comfortably and enjoy the backcountry.

Day 3:

A ton of activities to choose from: whitewater instruction and river running (of course), learn about Indigenous history and culture with your Innu guide, explore and dive deep into nature with your ecologist guide, amazing fishing (guaranteed speckled trout!), and more...

Day 4:

You'll run incredible whitewater today—with non-stop rapids including 'Blanche Neige', 'Porcupine', 'Can-Opener', 'Rapide des Tieres' and 'Marmites'. You can choose between a guided paddle raft, where you'll work as a team, or follow a kayak guide while you paddle your own inflatable kayak.

Day 5:

Today we 'line' (use ropes to guide the passenger-less rafts with ropes from shore) 2 dramatic chutes, run more fun rapids, and luxuriate in spectacular scenery as the landscape changes from moss-covered rolling hills to giant soaring cliffs.

Day 6:

This morning starts with gentle current: great for you to try a standup paddleboard (SUP) or ease your way into inflatable kayaking. After getting back in 'big whitewater mode' for Saxaphone Rapid, this afternoon has numerous smaller rapids for you to kayak now that you're trained and confident!

Day 7:

Paddle the biggest rapids of the trip including Trust Falls, Double Drop, and Borealis. Then the scene shifts once again as we arrive at the awe-inspiring Magpie Gorge—a world class sight.

Day 8:

Take an optional hike into the Gorge—a spot you'll never forget. We get our rafts and most gear flown out from here. Continue on in inflatable kayaks and canoes for lunch at Magpie Falls. From here it's a short paddle to the the coast. Get shuttled 90 mins back to Sept-Îles for our farewell dinner.

Day 9:

After breakfast at the hotel. We'll shuttle you to the airport anytime today for your flight home. Or continue your adventure...

What Guests Are Saying

Danny and his team put me at ease within the first few days. Their attention to safety was outstanding. Their team included people trained in teaching white water rescue, a cultural interpreter and an ecologist among others. The beauty of the river and the surrounding nature is breathtaking. Trip of a lifetime.
