Winning the individual Canadian whitewater kayak title in 1968 the couple was inspired to get more paddlers out on rivers. The first whitewater school in the world was born. Modeled after the European ski school concept where paddlers are divided into skill level groups, good food, and a great atmosphere lead to the ‘Rapid Education’ we know as MKC today! The Madawaska River location became the River of choice with its technical rapids and guaranteed surface water releases providing warm whitewater all summer long.

Overview

Cycling the Madawaska Valley has switched off Thanksgiving, NEW dates: Friday to Sunday, Oct. 2-4th, 2020. Accommodation & meals included in this three day weekend. Designed for those who are challenged by tough terrain and are undeterred by inclement weather and. Own bike or rent an e-bike. Each day there is a choice of route lengths - map & route app provided. Best time of year to enjoy splendid fall colours, stunning scenery, and quiet roads !
Riders are expected to be self-sufficient and ride in groups. For mountain bikers, we will guide a different ride every day on excellent logging and single track trails behind the property and within an hour drive away. If the weather deters you from cycling, then a choice of hiking routes along the river and trails in the adjacent hills are good options. For accommodation, participants share 2-3 to a lodge room or 4-6 in the dormitory. Camping is also an option. Everyone must bring a towel and sleeping bag. Wilderness is not totally without its consolations: showers and sauna are available. Three hearty breakfasts, and three packed lunches, to keep you fueled for the day are served. Two Dinners including a Thanksgiving feast will refill your tired muscles. All of our meals are home cooked using fresh local ingredients and many herbs from our own gardens.
