Nipika Mountain Resort

Nipika Mountain Resort is an eco-resort in the Canadian Rockies, 30km from Radium Hot Springs, BC and 114km from Banff, AB and just steps away from the magestic Kootenay River. Nipika offers guided daily canoe trips down the Kootenay River. In the summer months, the massive trail network surrounding Nipika is geared towards mountain bikers, hikers, and trail runners with a professional disc golf course on site. There are nine cabins, ranging in size accommodating 4-13 people. Activities and trails are open to day-use and cabin guests.

Overview

The Kootenay River is an exciting whitewater run through the beautiful Canadian Rockies of southeastern British Columbia, offering a wide variety of rapids and scenery.
Experience two nights (the first and last) at our eco resort in beautiful log cabins and three nights camping at various spots along the river. We launch high in Kootenay National Park and paddle three “reaches” (sections) of the river. Park Reach offers an excellent introduction, with lots of swifts and easy rapids. Then, 40 km downstream we enter the more demanding Canyon Reach. The rapids are more challenging here and cut through 50 km of steep-walled canyons. Lastly, we run the more relaxing White River Reach and splash through amazing scenery in the westernmost ranges of the Rockies to our take-out point at Canal Flats. Any adventurous paddler can enjoy this trip. The stable, inflatable SOAR canoes allow anyone to handle the rapids. Experienced canoeists will appreciate the constant current, numerous rapids, and exceptional scenery.

This trip is the perfect amount of fun, thrill and rejuvenation all wrapped into one. The guides are fantastic with lots of knowledge on the surrounding area and river safety. They do a great job of making the group feel like we were friends from the beginning even though we didn't' all know each other before arriving at the resort. The food was also great. Everything tastes better when you work for it too!
