Day 1:
After all guests arrive into Yellowknife we will meet for a brief introduction, meet the other guests and your guides and then we are on the road to Fort Providence. We’ll check into the hotel and after dinner we will do formal introductions and host a comprehensive orientation of your trip.
Day 2:
Today is option day, you can choose the optional day flight tour in the world famous Nahanni National Park, or explore around, maybe take in a round of golf on Northwest Territories most beautiful golf course or just relax and walk and enjoy the historic community of Fort Simpson.
Day 3:
After breakfast, hold a safety meeting and a traditional prayer ceremony, we are on the river! We will arrive at our first camping spot mid-afternoon where we will set up our tents and our camp. A relatively easy first day, to give everyone the chance to become familiar with canoeing and the river.
Day 4:
The next 6 days and nights we continue our canoe journey following in the footsteps of Sir Alexander Mackenzie and his men who canoed this same river over 230 years ago! What you are seeing with each passing kilometer is exactly what Alexander Mackenzie would have seen back in 1789!
Day 5:
During this day , we come to where the river starts to narrow and the current gets faster! Early morning breakfasts, lunch on the river when all the canoes are together and then a delicious dinner meal on the shore and some time to relax.
Day 6:
During this day , Take some time to yourself and reflect on your journey then sit around the campfire to share stories, enjoy your soothing chamomile tea and then crawl into your tent for a good night’s sleep out under the stars on the shores of the mighty Mackenzie River!
Day 7:
During this day and nights, we continue our journey.Evenings are time to relax and reflect, gather around the campfire to share stories, enjoy your soothing chamomile tea, afterwards crawl into tent for a good sleep on the mighty Mackenzie River!
Day 8:
During this day and nights, we continue our journey.Evenings are time to relax and reflect, gather around the campfire to share stories, enjoy your soothing chamomile tea, afterwards crawl into tent for a good sleep on the mighty Mackenzie River!
Day 9:
After 6 days of canoeing and camping on the river we arrive into the community of Tulita, our destination. Arriving late afternoon, We will be waiting for you and after packing up the canoes & gear. We will enjoy a relaxing evening in this Indigenous community, check into your B&B, have a hot shower
Day 10:
Today we will join local tour company and they will take us on a scenic 4hr hiking experience up the iconic Bear Rock. We will hear & learn about the Dene legend of Yamoria and Bear Rock. Back to Tulita, the rest of the day, just enjoy this historic community, meet the locals and enjoy our culture.
Day 11:
After breakfast, it’s road trip time! Sit back and enjoy the scenery of Canada’s north in our comfortable air conditioned tour vans on our way back to Yellowknife.
