Paddle one of the longest rivers in the world, and the longest river in Canada, the Mackenzie River! 9-10 day trip from Tulita to Fort Good Hope (272kms) ! Leave the hustle and bustle of the modern world behind for a life-changing northern Canada canoeing, camping, and genuine Indigenous cultural experience! Enjoy the wilderness of the “Dehcho” region while also experiencing the genuine culture of the local Indigenous people.
What makes our canoe expeditions different from other NWT canoe adventures is we incorporate elements of our Indigenous culture on each day of the expedition! Also, we have a support boat that accompanies our canoe groups from start to end. The support boat provides a safety service, bear monitor service, carry extra cargo, and of course are captained by our Indigenous guides who are knowledge keepers of the land and are happy to share stories about the land, about life in the old days, and about our culture. Day 1:

After an early breakfast we board our charter flight to Tulita. Soon after arriving into Tulita, we will hike up the iconic Bear Rock. After a 3-4hr hike we reach the top and are rewarded with a spectacular view of the Mackenzie River, the Bear River ad the Mackenzie Mountains for miles and miles!

Day 2:

The next 2 days and nights we continue our journey, the very same journey Sir Alexander Mackenzie and his men did 232 years ago! Early morning breakfasts, lunch on river when we ”raft” the canoes together and delicious dinner meals on the shore. Evenings are time to relax and reflect.

Day 4:

The this days and nights we continue our canoe journey enjoying the Mackenzie River . On the 3rd day we arrive into Norman Wells, an oil industry town and canoe by the made made islands. We will have some time go into town and get a restaurant meal.

Day 10:

After breakfast, and after a wonderful day in this very picturesque community you will board your charter aircraft for a scenic flight back to Yellowknife. Back into Yellowknife, check into your hotel or B&B and enjoy a delicious wrap up dinner to reminisce some more.

Canoeing, camping and genuine Indigenous culture on the mighty Mackenzie River! We are the only 100% Indigenous owned and operated canoeing company on the Mackenzie River. We know the people, places and history of the river. We are from the North, we know the North. Season start June 26, ends September 15. This year, 2021 is a special summer, it marks the 100th anniversary of the Treaty 11 signing, back in 1921! Communities along the river will be hosting community celebrations and you can be there as well!
