Overview

The St. Regis Ponds Loop combines the Nine Carries Route with Upper Saranac Lake and the Fish Creek Ponds to make a classic loop, in the St. Regis Wilderness and the Saranac Lakes Wild Forest Areas. This is a strenuous, remote trip with numerous ponds and a couple of small streams. The route is 35-40 miles with 10-14 portages. We recommend the trip as a 4-5 day paddle with time to relax and play. Listed price is per day.
The Adirondack Park is six million acres with a unique patchwork of one-half public and one-half private land. There are several designated wilderness areas, and many wild forest areas, that are very attractive to the canoeist. Nearly 30,000 miles of streams and brooks emerge from the mountains and forests which form the network of over 3,000 lakes and ponds. These rivers and their networks are, perhaps, the greatest multiple-use natural resources in the Adirondacks. The Ultra Lightweight Package includes an ultra lightweight canoe, MSR or Eureka tent, lightweight cook set, customized food package, and necessary gear.
