Overview
5 Days / 4 nights. You must leave in total autonomy to make this excursion on the river. Please adapt your personal equipment depending of the forecast. Kedgwick/Restigouche river: Departure is from the "Rapid Dépot or the Forks" located on the Kedgwick river upstream the Restigouche River. Some campsite are located along the river. Consider canoeing 25-30 km each day (about 5-6 hrs on the water).
You will find a constant flow on the first few kilometers of the Restigouche river. A few class I rapids will be encountered at the beginning of the trip. The color of the water and the scenery are breathtaking. Possibility of seeing many Atlantic salmon and bald eagles. Note that all the rapids/obstacles of this river are avoidable considering its width. At some point of your trip, you will have to pass the Chamberlains rapids, class II depending on the water level. Then, a few class I rapids will be on your way. Calm and serene, you will return from this trip fulfilled. You are finishing your trip in Matapedia. Distance : 132-152 km
