“To travel by canoe is to ponder where we came from, where we are, where we’re going, who we were, who we are and who we can be. It’s connection to the waters, the rocks, the forests, the skies, all the creatures of the Earth, and the Peoples.” ~ Michelle Savoie
Overview
The name Quetico comes from the Ojibway word, ‘Gwetaming’ which refers to sacred land. Before paddling into Quetico’s tranquil wilderness, you’ll be immersed in authentic Canadian Canoe Culture where local experts will share their insight and knowledge of this special region. It’s the perfect vacation for reflecting, gaining cultural understanding and renewing your spirit.
Your adventure begins at Voyageur Island Lodge where you’ll be introduced to best practices for backcountry canoe tripping and get fully outfitted for your 5-day canoe trip. Upon return to the lodge, unwind in the sauna, share a memorable Voyageur canoe experience and Teepee campfire experience.
