Coppermine River

Day 3:

After a full day of paddling, go for an evening hike, checking out a well-known site for muskoxen grazing.

Day 4:

Excellent fly-fishing for arctic grayling and the prized arctic char as we make our way across the Arctic circle.

Day 5:

Easy-going swifts and lazy sections of river allow for a warm-up prior to the high volume rapids known as Rocky Defile.

Day 6:

Home to the Bluenose East caribou herd, you should keep your eyes peeled for this keystone species, along with grizzlies patrolling flat-topped mountains along our route.

Day 7:

This wild, wide-open country is also host to moose that plod along the river and muskox that congregating along nearby tundra slopes.

Day 8:

Paddle down the exciting Muskox Rapids, perhaps camping at an incredible Arctic Char fishing hole.

Day 9:

Navigate the high-volume Sandstone Rapids.

Day 10:

Looking backing the treeline is left behind giving way to open tundra hills ideal for spotting moose, caribou, muskox, fox, wolverine and bear.

Day 11:

Eventually we arrive at the fabled Bloody Falls where a local cultural interpreter will host us for an engaging evening.

Day 12:

Arrival in Kugluktuk.

Day 13:

Cultural programming and traditional meal in Kugluktuk.

Day 14:

Depart Kugluktuk on Day 14 with a chartered flight back to Plummer's Lodge on Great Bear Lake where we enjoy our final night in the Arctic.

Day 15:

After a hearty breakfast the next morning, our charter will return us to Yellowknife on the shores of Great Slave Lake.
