Overview

Tangle Lakes/Delta River is one of the premier destinations for those who want a taste of what Alaska really has to offer. There is a ¼ mile portage around a beautiful series of waterfalls and the river is rated class II+ to III at high water. Additionally, this trip provides the opportunity to paddle through the heart of the Alaska Range and see various forms of wildlife-moose, ducks of many types, wolf, beaver, bald eagle, river otters (to name a few common sightings).

Included attractions: Hiking, paddling, sightseeing, mountains, waterfalls, wildlife, fishing, birding, photography, camping, whitewater paddling, and much more. Offered multiple times during the season.

North Pole, Alaska

1st day: meet with guides & trip group, drive to put in, paddle first part of trip, set up camp, have dinner, & camp for the night. 2nd day: breakfast, take down camp & load up boats, paddle, portage & lunch, paddle, find campsite. 3rd day: breakfast, paddle, lunch, paddle, takeout & go back to town

Day 1:

Meet in North Pole, AK or other meeting location such as put in spot (discussed in advance). If meeting in North Pole, pack up all equipment in vehicle and drive to put in location. Suit up for first day of paddling and take to the water. Stop at first campsite for dinner and camping for the night.

Day 2:

Wake up and have breakfast. Take down camp and load up boats for second day of paddling. Second day includes completing the lakes, portage (lunch typically occurs before or after the portage), and rapids. Guide will choose a campsite dependent on daylight hours left and other trip factors.

Full Itinerary

Day 3:

Breakfast, then third and last day of paddling. Sites to see: the Denali Fault and "Fossil Island". Take out at Mile ?, load up van, and head back to town.

Our Tangle Lakes trip includes 3 days of wilderness paddling with our swift water rescue trained guides. Additionally, we provide all gear needed to make this trip a memory to revisit over and over. This gear includes boats, paddles, sprayskirts, waders or drysuits, wetshoes, and more. Relax at campsites while our guides serve up delicious campfire meals. Fishing opportunities during the first two days on the big lakes. Every day is an opportunity to see wildlife, take pictures, and enjoy the great outdoors.
