Discovery Sea Kayaks is based in downtown Friday Harbor on San Juan Island. We offer a variety of guided kayaking tours ranging from several hours to multiple days of fully-catered camping. Committed to providing guests with the highest quality experience, we operate small-group tours with top-notch gear and professional guides. Our daily tours paddle the scenic west side of San Juan, with views of Lime Kiln Lighthouse, the Olympic mountains, and a variety of potential wildlife encounters. Overnight camping tours include all the gear as well as fresh-made locally-sourced meals. Bioluminescence Kayak Tour, we’ve been operating safe, educational, nighttime experiences for over a decade.

Overview

Paddling the San Juan Islands of Washington State should be on every sea paddler's bucket list. We make the experience seamless, providing all the equipment for kayaking and camping as well as all the food. Show up with your basic necessities and we take care of the rest. The kayak routes travel waterways known for wildlife and whale encounters. Our guides lead you to some of the most beautiful campsites in the area. Each trip has a custom-tailored feel.

GOURMET CAMP CUSINE One of the many reasons guests come back for another 3-day kayak adventure is our food. Guides custom design meal plans for each tour. We source as much as we can from our organic garden and the rest from local farmers when possible. QUALITY EQUIPMENT We go the extra mile when it comes to the equipment we use. All camping equipment is in excellent condition. Tents are spacious with plenty of room to stretch out in the evenings. Warm Marmot sleepings bags paired with comfortable Therm-A-Rest sleeping pads and camp pillows make for a great nights rest. Enjoy traveling in fiberglass kayaks with lightweight Werner Paddles. Provided Seal Line dry bags will keep all of your belongings nice and dry. We select our equipment with care and put it to the test. Only the best is selected for our tours.

Friday Harbor, Washington State

Meet and greet at the office on the morning of departure. The rest is all kayaking and camping.

Day 1:

7:45 AM Check-in at the office for meet and greet. Guides will go over the route and give updates on the weather and water conditions expected for the tour. Once at the beach we pack up the kayaks and head out for the day. Mid-day we will stop for a beach lunch then head to our camping destination.

Day 2:

This is an open day that we plan for either another big paddle to another island or choose to basecamp on the same island and do a smaller day paddle. Group discussion the night before to nail down the day 2 paddle plan. None the less there will be adventure and kayaking.

Day 3:

This is the final day of the adventure. We try to get back to the office in town by 2:30 PM, as this allows time for those catching the ferry. We can run late so please do not make tight travel plans. You can expect a nice full day of paddling.
