Salmon, Idaho

Arrive in Salmon for an orientation before launching on a six-day Main Salmon River adventure. Paddle thrilling rapids, soak in hot springs, and explore the rich history of the canyon. Camp on white-sand beaches, savor gourmet meals, and immerse yourself in Idaho’s stunning wilderness.

Day 1:

Depart early from Salmon to head to the river put-in to begin the journey! After a safety briefing from your guides, set off downstream in rafts, paddling through your first rapids and enjoying a riverside lunch. By afternoon, you'll reach camp, where you can hike, relax or play games before dinner.

Day 2:

Start the day with breakfast before exploring ancient rock art and learning about the region’s history. You’ll experience thrilling whitewater rapids today, and maybe soak in a scenic riverside hot spring. Arrive at camp in the afternoon for another evening of good food and relaxation.

Day 3:

Experience some of the most exhilarating rapids of the trip, with stretches of calm water for soaking in the canyon’s beauty. A stop at a historic homestead offers insight into the lives of early settlers. By nightfall, you’ll be deep in the wilderness, fully immersed in the river’s solitude.

Day 4:

Float past remote river outposts, with a visit to a well-preserved homestead that tells the story of those who carved out a life in this rugged landscape. Enjoy another day of whitewater, riverside lunch, swimming, and scenic floating before reaching camp for another night under the stars.

Day 5:

A mellow day on the river offers a chance to fully appreciate the canyon’s grandeur. You’ll visit a historic ranch before settling into camp for a celebratory evening, complete with games, storytelling, and a final night of riverside camaraderie.

Day 6:

Savor one last morning on the river before running a final stretch of exciting rapids. The journey concludes at Carey Creek, where you’ll enjoy a farewell lunch before heading back to civilization.
