This is a Rescue Canada course provided in conjunction with Special Adventure Services and Hunter Valley Adventures. This course will be directed towards river guides, covering the skills on the fringe required for professionals leading rafts, canoes and kayaks in our Canadian cold rocky continuous rivers.
Green Tongue Adventures partners with Rescue Canada provides front loaded curriculum through online learning so that more time is spent in the water and developing practical skills. Focused on evidence based subject matter we deliver the tools that are proven to be highly effective. We take
a flexible approach to round table discussions so as to ensure all questions are answered and learning styles addressed.
Expect the following to be covered on this course:
Hazard assessment and mitigation.
Swimming effectively for all water and situations
Communication and communication tools
Ropes and knots basic and advanced
Body entrapment
Equipment entrapment
Self rescue, companion rescue, equipment recovery.
Line across techniques
Throw bag techniques
We will be working on the Kananaskis and Red Deer River (if flows allow).
