Overview

Remote whitewater paradise. Experience stunning views and incredible wildlife as you paddle through Saskatchewan's most rugged landscape on the Porcupine River.
The Porcupine River, starting from Selwyn Lake at the border of the Northwest Territories, is the most northerly trip in our catalog. The river flows 150 km south, joining the Fond du Lac River shortly above Black Lake. As we move south the landscape transitions from the short forest, esker laden land of the taiga to the deep, stunning canyon of the southern Porcupine. This canyon is the reason why the Dene named the Porcupine "Dead Man's River", as the river drops over several stunning waterfalls in this section. You won't find many signs of human travel on the porcupine, but wildlife is plenty in this remote corner of the province and you can expect to see many moose, some bears, and possibly even a porcupine. The trip includes charter flights to and from the river.
