Overview

The Keele (Begaadee) is one of the most spectacular, yet unknown, rivers in the Northwest Territories. We are excited to offer a 13-day, accessible option to experience the magic of this area by raft! Our rafting route flows 300 km through beautiful mountain ranges to the Mackenzie River, just north of the fabled Nahanni River. This river valley is home to caribou, grizzly, and Dall’s sheep. Ideal for paddlers of any skill level who have some camping experience.
This is a fun stretch of river to raft, with many swifts and small rapids, as well as some fun wave trains. The river is wide and meanders through beautiful mountain valleys with breathtaking vistas. Hiking is easily accessible in the upper reaches of the river and will be an option for the group. In addition, one highlight of the trip will be the interpretation provided by our local Indigenous guides. Paddlers will enjoy the relaxing pace of the raft, splashing down easy rapids, taking the helm and trying out the oars once in a while, and taking advantage of great photography opportunities, hiking excursions, and wildlife viewing.
