MHO Adventures
All Inclusive Backcountry Canoe Trips & Wilderness Guide Training
Overview
Discover the legendary Missinaibi River. The "Miss" flows 520 km from Missinaibi Lake to James Bay, through ancient granite landscapes, wild rapids, impressive waterfalls, and vast lowlands. On our 19-day journey, we dive right into the action with Class II–III rapids and portages, including the iconic Thunderhouse Falls. Here we spend the night atop a 150-foot high canyon, taking in the stunning view.
Below the falls, we say goodbye to the last portage and experience gravel bar camping, as we paddle towards James Bay. We’ll explore gypsum caves, search for fossils, and paddle through fun swifts. Upon arriving in Moose Factory—home to the Moose Cree people and a historic hub of the fur trade—we will join local friends who will share their knowledge and introduce us to the area's rich culture. Join us for the adventure of a lifetime.
Whitewater, wilderness, and history await.

What Guests Are Saying
We made it safely home and wanted to thank you all again for a truly fantastic trip on the Missinaibi. On a personal level, the last few years have been tough for a variety of reasons, and to be off the grid, using my body instead of sitting at a desk, immersed in nature... was so very healing and grounding and joyful.
