Overview

The Teslin River is a very enjoyable and relaxing paddle as it flows from Teslin Lake to the confluence of the Yukon River at Hootalinqua, the historic Northwest Mounted Police station and Telegraph post. This river is perfect for adventurers looking to get introduced to river paddling as well as the wilds of the Yukon. Beautiful mountain views surround us as we flow down the river.
Camping in tents and eating by the campfire, provides the foundation for a truly unique wilderness experience. Historic highlights include a visit to the ancient First Nations encampment of Big Salmon at the confluence of the Big Salmon and Yukon Rivers, and Cyr's Dredge, a mining relic from the 1898 Yukon Gold Rush. The Teslin River is a scenic and historic route, offers excellent wildlife viewing opportunities and leaves you with unforgettable memories. This trip is suitable for all levels of paddler.

Day 1: Arrival in Whitehorse. Pre-Trip Meeting. 1 Hotel Night. Day 2: Shuttle to Johnson's Crossing. Beginning of trip. Day 3-8: Canoe down the Teslin and explore historic sites. Day 9: Arrival in Carmacks and return to Whitehorse. 1 Hotel Night. Day 10: Departure Day.
