Overview

On this expedition we will explore the upper Mondego river as well as one of its beautiful tributaries, the Dão river, known for its famous wine. The whole expedition takes place in a valley surrounded by fields and forest. We will get to know the local communities, the typical food of the region as well as the wine. In all our expeditions we always try to integrate the local community, supporting the sustainable and responsible development of these small communities.
Our expedition ends in the beautiful city of Coimbra, where we will have the opportunity to visit one of the oldest universities in the world, dated 1st of March 1290 - Founder King D. Dinis. 1º day – Welcome day - visit to the city of Porto, 2º day – On the way to Santa Comba Dão - Visiting Dão wine region, 3º day – The Expedition begins, on Dão River! 4º day – Paddling on Mondego river towards to Aguieira dam, 5º day – Paddling towards to Coimbra - The students city, 6º day – Final destination - Oporto.

7Rivers Expeditions has as mission to show social, cultural and natural life, through Kayak expeditions, helping develop the local communities. We have a special concern for the environment, leaving a better world for our descendants. For 6 days you will live a cultural, social and natural adventure

Day 1:

1º day – Welcome day - visit to the city of Porto Day to rest from the plane or car trip and meet the team. Time to visit the Port wine cellars and the city. Dinner in a typical restaurant.

Day 2:

2º day – On the way to Santa Comba Dão - Visiting Dão wine region The Dão River region is famous for its wine and landscapes. After settling in a typical accommodation we will visit a wine farm and the region. We will have dinner in a typical restaurant tasting the local food and wine.

Day 3:

3º day – The Expedition begins, on Dão River! Today we begin our expedition on the River Dão. The green valley will be a constant until we find the Mondego river where we finish today's journey.

Day 4:

4º day – Paddling on Mondego river towards to Aguieira dam. After starting our expedition in a tributary of the Mondego, the river Dão, today we will explore the Mondego, the biggest river entirely in Portugal. Today's journey ends at the Aguieira dam.

Day 5:

5º day – Paddling towards to Coimbra - The students city Today we will paddle to the historic city of Coimbra, known as the city of students. The Mondego river continues to offer us beautiful landscapes. We will visit the oldest University in Portugal and one of the oldest in the world.

Day 6:

6º day – Final destination - Porto We all return to Porto. All our expeditions meet the wishes of the participants. Participants can choose the days of the expedition. Please have a look to all our expeditions at our website and get in touch, we will be happy to plan your expedition with you.
