Overview

Baja is an iconic paddling destination with transparent, warm water, bountiful marine life and spectacular scenery. Our La Paz-based kayak trips go to Isla Espiritu Santo. Trips are panga (motorboat) supported, keeping kayaks lighter and plans more flexible. We camp on vast sandy beaches on the turquoise waters of the Sea of Cortez, hike among cactus, swim with sea lions, snorkel with colorful fish and relax under a star-studded night sky.

Launching in La Paz, you'll be transported towards this tranquil island that is a UNESCO Biosphere and designated National Park in Mexico. Here, you will paddle around the island soaking up the desert scape, sea breeze, and sunshine. You’ll share the water with friendly sea lions and their pups, towering cacti, and volcanic rocks formations that sit in the distance. You can expect plenty of marine life, snorkeling amongst hundreds of tropical fish, hiking, and relaxation. You may extend your vacation in La Paz before or after your kayak tour to swim with whale sharks. La Paz is one of the few places in the world where there is still an opportunity to observe and swim with whale sharks.

La Paz, Baja California Sur

Explore the pristine waters off the coast of La Paz, Baja, swim and snorkel with sea lions, paddle through a UNESCO biosphere and Mexico national park. With white sand, turquoise water, and abundant marine life, spend your days and nights on some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

Day 1:

Take a panga ride to Isla Espiritu Santo where we’ll go over a brief orientation before paddling to the first campsite of the trip.

Day 2:

*Please note this is relevant for days 2-4: Over the next few days we’ll admire the unique landscapes and incredible geology of the Baja desert landscape. We’ll paddle around 4 miles per day. There will be plenty of time for snorkeling, hiking, and relaxing on the expansive beaches of the island.

Day 3:

*Day 5: Spend the last day in the water snorkeling among a friendly colony of sea lions! After making new friends with these friendly animals, we’ll be transported back to the hotel before an evening farewell dinner.

Isla Espiritu Santo Kayak Tour

What's Included - +

Skilled professional guide services, ground transportation, motorboat-support to carry gear, snorkeling equipment, camping equipment including tents, sleeping bags, liners, and sleeping pads. Our camping trips include all meals from lunch on the first day to lunch on the last day.

Equipment & Outfitting + -

For all of our Baja tours we use high quality, fiberglass kayaks, made by Seward. The majority of our fleet is comprised of tandems, as these boats offer the greatest stability, speed, and ease of paddling. There are typically a small number of single kayaks present on the tour, which will be utilized by the guides. Depending on weather conditions, and interest, they may allow guests to rotate into singles; however this will be at the guide's' discretion based on safety and the paddling objectives for the day. We also have a limited number of solo kayaks available to reserve and use throughout the trip (for an additional cost) for paddlers who have ocean kayaking experience.

Upgrade Options + -

You may extend your vacation in La Paz before or after your kayak tour to swim with whale sharks. La Paz is one of the few places in the world where there is still an opportunity to observe and swim with whale sharks.
